Ribbon

Ribbon is a device that presents commands organized into a set of tabs. The tabs on the Ribbon display the commands that are most relevant for each of the task areas in the application. For example, in Office Word 2007, the tabs group commands for activities such as inserting objects like pictures and tables, doing page layout, working with references, doing mailings, and reviewing. The Home tab provides easy access to the most frequently used commands. Office Excel 2007 has a similar set of tabs that make sense for spreadsheet work including tabs for working with formulas, managing data, and reviewing. These tabs simplify accessing application features because they organize the commands in a way that corresponds directly to the tasks people perform in these applications. We a glad to tell you that we fully support 2007 Microsoft® Office System User Interface Design Guidelines and would like to introduce some Ribbon features to you:

·Application Menu
·Quick Access Toolbar
·Representation and Navigation features

Application Menu

The Application Menu is invoked using Application Button pic-01 is something similar to File menu in the most of applications that use classic user interface but it gives more. It contains the most helpful links to the actions that are located at different tabs from one access point.

Quick Access Toolbar

The Quick Access Toolbar pic-02 is the end user customizable bar, that is located near the Application Button or below the Ribbon depending on a configuration. It can contain both links to ribbon items or ribbon groups. To add and action link to quick access tool bar right click this action and select Add to Quick Access Toolbar from the pop-up menu. The groups can be added in the same way – the only difference is that to add a group you should right click its caption.

Representation and Navigation Features

The representation of the Ribbon can also be configured to make your work more comfortable. You can minimize the Ribbon, so that tabs' content is shown only when the tab is clicked so that the Ribbon leaves you some space for other application workspace. Also, if it is not convenient for you to have a Quick Access Toolbar near the Application Button you can place it below the Ribbon, so that it will look just like a simple tool bar. This configuration is accessible from the pop-up menu of the Ribbon bar.

RepresentationNavigationFeatures

The navigation between the Ribbon tabs can be performed not only with a mouse click on a tab, but also with a help of mouse wheel. Just place cursor over any tab and scroll the wheel – scrolling up will switch the tabs from the left to the right, scrolling down will behave vice versa.
